Electrical Panel and Breaker Upgrades

Your electrical panel is the backbone of your home’s electrical system and the last line of defense against most electrical fires. If you need more electricity for an air conditioner or a major remodel you will likely need to upgrade your panel. If your home has a fuse box or older breakers like Federal Pacific, Zinnsco and Pushmatic Bulldog they will not react and trip as quickly as modern day breakers and should be replaced immediately.  If a breaker continues to trip after it has been reset, don’t ignore the issue and continue to reset the breaker.  If this is happening, the breaker is warning you of a serious threat!  Call a Northern Lights Electric, Inc. to inspect and repair the issue immediately (925) 766-6905.

Rewiring and Wire Replacement

Knob and Tube Wiring Replacement

Knob & tube wiring is an older electrical system of open electrical conductors that are supported on ceramic knobs. It was commonly used from the 1880’s through the 1930’s. This type of wiring does not have a grounding wire which means that it is unsafe to use in kitchens, bathrooms, laundry rooms and other areas which have water hookups. Our electricians can assess your home and determine if your electrical system uses knob & tube wiring. Once determined, we can replace your old knob & tube wiring with new, safe electrical wiring. Aside from being dangerous, another disadvantage associated with knob and tube wiring is that it does not meet the electricity needs of the modern household. If you suspect that your electrical system maybe using knob & tube wiring call Northern Lights Electric, Inc. today for a professional inspection.

Aluminum Wiring Replacement

Deteriorating aluminum wiring imposes a hidden danger. Aluminum corrosion increases resistance to electrical current, causing wire overheating at the connection points. Expanding aluminum causes fasteners to loosen. This can lead to even more overheating and arcing which may start a fire. There are more than 2 million homes in the U.S. that have unsafe aluminum wiring. Most of them were built between 1965 and 1972. Unsure if there is aluminum branch circuit wiring at your house? Call Northern Lights Electric, Inc. today and we will inspect your wiring to make sure it’s safe.
